The Project (2016-2019), spread over two Phases, entailed the establishment of Detailed 
Technical
                                                    Guidelines for the safety of dams (Phase 1) and the drafting of legislation for the 
regulation of safety of dams (Phase 2) in the country. Phase
                                                    1 included, within the 
Guidelines, a chapter on the current law pertaining to safety of dams. The latter Chapter 
covered aspects related to
                                                    the law of negligence as well as current safety legislation 
including the Factories and Machineries Act, Construction Industry Development Board
                                                    Act 
and Health and Safety Act. Phase 1 was completed in 2017. Phase 2 commenced in 2017 
with the main role being undertaken by Ramesh Yum
                                                    & Company led by its Consultant K. 
Ramadas. The work entailed a review of similar legislation in several countries, numerous 
submissions
                                                    and discussions with various stakeholders and detailed discussions with key 
legal officers of the Ministry of Water, Land and Natural Resources
                                                    on the various proposals 
and Drafts. The Draft legislation on Safety of Dams was finalised by the Consultants and 
handed over to Government
                                                    for consideration and adoption in 2019.
 
 
                                        2018-2019
The Project (2018-2019) entailed the formulation of an integrated river basin management 
(IRBM) plan
                                                    for the Tebrau River Basin, Johor. The primary objective of the IRBM Plan was to 
ensure that the Tebrau river will be gradually transformed into
                                                    an asset to the community 
providing clean water, developing biodiversity and an aesthetically pleasing asset entwined 
with the daily lives
                                                    of the community living in the Basin. The Firm of Ramesh Yum and Co., 
led by its Consultant . K. Ramadas, were appointed to be a part of a
                                                    multi-disciplinary 
team of Consultants to undertake the Project. The Firm in particular led the review on all 
aspects of the governance of
                                                    the Tebrau River Basin including legislation, institutions, 
policies and processes. The Project, which stretched over more than a year, resulted
                                                    in the 
production of a State of the River Report and recommendations for a system of better and 
more effective governance encapsulated in a
                                                    detailed IRBM Action Plan for the Tebrau River 
Basin.
